Introducing Martin - first Swede who got our demo CD back in the day
Yeah, we´re working on it. It goes a little slower than expected, mostly due to me moving to the US and therefore not being able to rehearse with the guys. So we´re sending songs via email back and forth. I recently finished recording all guitars for the songs I´ve written (bout 8), so these are set to be finalized. Only one problem - we just got vocals for 4 of them yet Karl is sitting in Austria and is recording the songs he wrote (5 or 6). Dunno how far he is yet though. yeah - this means we´re again recording guitars at home (just like on the Art Of Reistance and Anthems). Simply put in our guitars into a recording interface and off it goes into Cubase (recording program), where we edit the songs ourselves. It worked perfectly fine for Anthems... and we got more tracks and options recorded this time. We´ll record the bass at home too, so just Vox and Drums will be taken in the studio. Saves us a hella money. So currently I´m waiting for 1 more song with completed (pre-)vocals, so I can send the demos off to Napalm Recs to talk about a budget for the 2nd album. Once we got that, we´ll keep you updated on a studio schedule. I have been kinda wanting to put out some riffs or Demo parts out soon - so if there´s interest, I might do that and just air some seconds on myspace or youtube, just to tease a bit. Of course, these will be totally unfinished tracks, with rough recorded pre-vocals, a drumcomputer, no bass and bad timing... yeah - you got it - demos oh - here´s an old vid I put online a while ago - just 3 riffs, but fun: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFy_VwBqfQs -------------------- Every Generation has a legend...

Thanks for the introduction and the nice update Wops!
I hope you get a positive respond from Napalm and get this album done! The youtube-riff sounds really wolfpack with a nice oldschool sound...perfect! I'm sure the album with thrash ...i hope it will be fast and heavy (i think i've read somewhere that WPU are turning in this direction)! Is a release before summer '09 too optimistic |

Hell, I always thought we were fast and thrashy Summer 09 is realistic. Unfortunately, since I was initially planning on having the album out in 08 :-/ well, I guess not, unless you want a crappy unfinished album ;-) There won´t be too many changes in our music. As for the songs I´ve written, I´d say one goes heavily into the "Religion Of Conrol" style (or imagine Testament´s Gathering album), the others are similar in style to "Last Dance..."/"Warzone" (yeah, the thrashy but melodic pieces) - with slightly more heaviness and less melody. Been cutting down on accoustic parts too, but there ain´t a real reason for that. What I´m pretty sure of is that the new songs will be armbreakers for anyone who attempts to play them - so some real extreme and fast stakkato and triplets palm muting and chopping fun I´ve also gotten a load of songs from Karl - they differ a bit from mine, but not as much as being recognized as someone´s elses immediately. Since I´ve gotten a bit less melodic, Karl adds the balance and throws in some nice minor tunes I´d - if I had to - would compare to Dark Tranquillity, Trivium´s "Crusade" (without!!! the gay parts -------------------- Every Generation has a legend...

Nah, I really have to aplogize. There is a hell of work to do at my dayjob and I'm almost every week in Germoney since three months, even over X-Mas. Now I got a little more time but unfortunately this extra time was not quite productive due to the traditional X-Mas-flue. Karl and Wops gave me some skilled homework to do because the songs they wrote are as already said a little less melodic so it's quite tricky to find some vocal-melodies. But you grow with the challenge and I hope in the end everything is fine. Happy new year! |

Watching "Z´Ha´Dum" really makes me wanna start playing guitar (and not just drumming) Good luck with the writing and stay true to the fast, technical and melodic thrash! I'm gonna pick up the album as soon it arrives...maybe it'll be a special Old fan package then |

Well, I don't want to tell too much, only one cryptic sentence: Wops visits Austria to be on the same place at the same time like us three guys...
7-string will be present, yes, at least at one song of which I know that definitely. We played this song already live at our release party for "Anthems...". Furhter I dunno how many other songs, but I think Wops maybe can comment a little more detailled, when he can be back online again (which is not the fact at the moment) |

No, recording did not start, but we are preparing. And we seiced the time together to do some fotos, which is obviously most demanding for being together on the same place at the same time. We slackened the reins a bit in the last months due to our private situations, but i hope that this will improve now and we are on target again. |

Well, not too much to tell from my side. I´ve recorded all guitars for my songs, so these are set. Just recording at home, like for "Anthems...", works just fine.
I´ve also met Karlhoven last week again, he said he had some Computer problems and wasn´t recording. Actually, he would like to have some vocals first to fit his riffs a bit better. Dunno how many songs he has now (stupid me!!) , but I´ve heard like 4 or 5. It´s also maybe interesting that Karl will be the only person ever exept for me to record rhythm guitars on an album I was on. Some people say I´m a timing- and recording-Nazi 7-strings will be just on one song. Mainly, cuz we are already tuned 3 half steps down already and don´t really need a lower string. Also, if you´re playing real fast, it will sound more sloppy, so there are just 7-strings on the one slower song. So don´t worry, there won´t be any Nu-Metal 1-finger riffs As some of you know, I´ve moved to the US a year ago. That of course did slow WPU a bit down. It didn´t affect the songwriting, but the arrangements, as we work way slower now , only sending mp3s across the pond. Plus, I´ve recently become a dad, and Tschunta is proud father of a young daughter too, so we´ve had quite some private "distractions" Still, we at least did a photoshoot a week ago when I was back home Talked to Napalm Records and got some news there. But none I can share now, plz stay tuned. hmm maybe some lyrical news: Listening to the songs, I can at least tell what (I think "1944" (all songs are working titles) is about children soldiers used in the German army/HJ in the last years of the war. I´ve also received a second version, where it´s about children soliders SINCE then, but I liked the WW2 theme better. "How it hurts" - Violence and abuse against women and children at home. What drives a man to hurt those he loves? I think it´s an interesting topic, cuz there are so many stupid Deathmetal bands writing asshole lyrics about torturing/killing/hurting kids and women, so this is quite the opposite. "Z´Ha´Dum" - the only lyrics I wrote (just cuz I had an idea for a vocal melody), and they´re not as serious or well researched as Tschunta´s will post more when I know more Wops -------------------- Every Generation has a legend...

Well, just a short update du write something new after quite a long time and a desperate try to keep this forum alive.
The proposed songtitles for the new songs, Wops was talking about are: - "Children Soldiers" - "What kind of father" - "Z'Ha'Dum" (as already told by Wops, this one is from him, so the title is taken from him too) Furthermore there are following songs: - "Technical Armageddon" (which was already introduced by Wops as "More Destruction") - "Sound of a Detonation"; treating the so-called "crown of human developments", the A-bomb - "Final Fall"; a song about a yesterday's hero and leader, who finally became old, unimportant and weak, so now a new generation will rise and a new era will begin - "Unblacken your Thoughts"; very untypic lyrics for a metal song with a positive message - Let's call it the "You've got a friend" of Thrash Finally I'm working on more lyrics, especially for Karlhovens songs: - "Resistance-05", containing lyrics about Austrian resistance in WW2 - "Trve tolerance"; a story about a super-trve metalhead, always proclaiming tolerance and in truth being completely narrow minded. Such guys really piss me off, and there are so many of them... "Practice what you preach" anyone? At the moment I have a feeling of getting new drive and shifting from first to fifth gear directly. Hopefully I can put this on the track and finally finish this work, which is really pissing me off in the meantime (I mean, that it takes sooo long and I have still not finalized, the work itself is fun). |
